Giftus is a software platform for life-event pages (gift registries, RSVPs, and wishes). Guest contributions, when money is involved, are peer-to-peer UPI payments from guest to host. Giftus does not collect, hold, escrow, or settle those gift amounts. Any optional fee you pay Giftus (for example to publish an event) is a separate charge for our digital service and is described under Platform fees.

Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern access to and use of the Giftus website and services at giftus.io (the “Platform”). By creating an account, creating an event, contributing, submitting an RSVP, or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Giftus.

“Giftus,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean the operator named above. “You” means any user of the Platform. “Creator” or “host” means a registered user who creates or manages an event. “Contributor” or “guest” means a person who visits a public event page, pays via UPI, reports a payment, leaves a wish, or submits an RSVP.

1. Nature of the service

Giftus provides tools to create and share digital event pages for occasions such as weddings, birthdays, baby showers, and similar life events. Features may include gift lists with target amounts, open wishes or blessings, RSVP collection, theming, a “Wall of Love,” and related host tools.

Giftus is not a bank, NBFC, payment aggregator for guest gifts, escrow agent, trustee, or marketplace that settles money between guests and hosts. We provide software and hosting so hosts can display their own UPI details and track reported contributions.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years of age to register as a Creator.
  • You must have legal capacity to enter a binding agreement under Indian law.
  • Guests who only RSVP or contribute should do so with a parent or guardian’s guidance if under 18; we do not knowingly allow under-18 Creators.
  • You must provide accurate information and keep it updated.

3. Accounts and email verification

  • Creators sign up with email and password (Firebase Authentication).
  • You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for activity under your account.
  • We may require email verification before an event can be published or shared publicly. Unverified hosts may still create and edit draft events.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts for fraud, abuse, spam, illegal activity, or Terms violations.
  • Guests reporting a UPI payment may be signed in anonymously solely to call our reporting APIs; that is not a full Creator account.

4. Events: drafts and public pages

  • Creators may create events in draft form, add gifts, set UPI details, themes, and wall settings.
  • A public event can be opened by anyone with the link. Draft or unpublished events are not intended for guest access.
  • Event modes may include gift registry only, gifts with RSVP, RSVP only, or RSVP with open wishes/blessings. Hosts choose the mode and are responsible for what guests see.
  • Creators must not publish misleading event details, fake causes, or content that violates law or these Terms.

5. Guest contributions (UPI peer-to-peer)

When a guest pays money toward a gift or blessing, the payment is made directly to the Creator’s UPI ID using the guest’s own UPI app (for example GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, or bank UPI). Giftus does not receive that money.

  • Creators supply their own UPI ID and display name; they alone are responsible for correctness.
  • Guests must verify payee name, amount, and UPI ID before confirming payment in their app.
  • After paying, a guest may report the payment on Giftus (“I’ve paid”) with an optional reference so the host can match their bank statement. Reporting is not a bank transfer.
  • Reported amounts may update gift progress immediately. The host should confirm or mark not received. False reports may be removed from totals.
  • Contributions are voluntary gifts or blessings between guest and host unless they agree otherwise among themselves. Giftus is not a party to that payment.
  • Any UPI or bank fees charged by payment apps are outside Giftus’s control.

6. Platform fees (software / freemium)

New events use a freemium model: you may create, publish, and share for free with up to two (2) gifts. A one-time unlock fee of ₹100 (INR) (or the amount shown in the product) unlocks unlimited gifts on that event. You may pay the unlock fee at any time, including before adding gifts. Legacy events may remain unlimited free.

  • The fee is paid by the Creator to Giftus for digital software access—not guest gift money;
  • Amount and what is unlocked are shown in Manage before you pay;
  • Payment may be via UPI to Giftus or another processor we enable; guest gifts remain peer-to-peer UPI to you;
  • RSVP-only experiences without a multi-gift list may remain free as shown in the product.

We may change pricing or free tiers with reasonable notice on the Platform or by email to registered Creators.

7. Creator responsibilities

  • Provide accurate event information and a correct UPI ID where money features are used.
  • Review reported contributions promptly and honestly against your bank / UPI statements.
  • Use funds received lawfully and in line with what you represent to guests.
  • Handle guest refunds and disputes for UPI payments yourself (see Refund Policy).
  • Comply with applicable Indian law, including tax obligations on money you receive.
  • Do not use Giftus for fraud, money laundering, prohibited goods, hate, harassment, or illegal content.
  • Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, overload, or abuse the Platform or its APIs.

8. Guest responsibilities

  • Pay only if you intend a voluntary gift or blessing to the host (or as you personally agree with them).
  • Double-check UPI details and amount before paying.
  • Report “I’ve paid” only after a successful UPI transfer; do not submit false reports.
  • Provide accurate RSVP information if you submit one.
  • Do not post abusive, illegal, or infringing messages on the Wall of Love or forms.

9. Content and licence

You retain ownership of content you upload (event text, images, messages). You grant Giftus a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and process that content solely to operate the Platform. You represent that you have rights to upload such content and that it does not infringe third-party rights.

Giftus branding, software, and design remain our property. You may not copy or resell the Platform except as allowed by law.

10. No warranties; availability

The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with or without notice. We do not guarantee that any host will receive a reported UPI payment or that any fundraising goal will be met.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Askin John Samuel and Giftus shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or payments made between guests and hosts, arising from your use of the Platform, incorrect UPI details, host or guest conduct, third-party UPI apps, payment gateways, or downtime.

Our aggregate liability for claims relating to the Platform shall not exceed the greater of (a) the platform fees you paid us for the event or feature giving rise to the claim in the three (3) months before the claim, or (b) INR 1,000.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your events, your UPI details, money you receive or fail to refund, or your breach of these Terms or law.

13. Termination

You may stop using Giftus at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach, risk, legal requirement, or discontinuation of the service. Provisions that by nature should survive (liability, indemnity, governing law) will survive termination.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to mandatory consumer protections, courts in Tamil Nadu, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction. We encourage contacting support first to resolve issues informally.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change. Continued use after posting constitutes acceptance. For material changes we may also notify registered Creators by email when practical.

  • UPI ID and UPI display name (shown to guests so they can pay you).

  • Cookies or local storage required for login session and app function.

D. What we do not collect for guest gifts

  • We do not receive your UPI PIN, full bank account number, card number, CVV, or OTP for peer-to-peer gift payments.
  • Those payments complete inside the guest’s bank or UPI application under that provider’s privacy policy.

2. Purposes of processing

  • Provide accounts, authentication, and email verification.
  • Host event pages and show hosts’ UPI details to guests.
  • Record contribution reports, confirmations, RSVPs, and Wall of Love visibility settings.
  • Process platform fees (when enabled) and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • Operate, secure, debug, and improve the Platform.
  • Respond to support requests and comply with law.

We process data on the basis of your consent (where required), performance of a contract (providing the service you request), and legitimate uses permitted under DPDPA for security and service operation.

3. Sharing and processors

We do not sell your personal data. We do not rent or trade mailing lists. We share data only as needed to run Giftus:

  • Google Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, database, storage, functions, optional analytics and App Check (infrastructure processors).
  • Event hosts — guest name, message, amount, payment reference, RSVP details so they can manage their event and match UPI credits.
  • Public visitors — content the host chooses to show on a public page (e.g. gift list, wall settings allowing names/messages).
  • Payment gateways (when you pay a platform fee) — necessary billing data processed under their policies (e.g. Razorpay or similar).
  • Authorities — when required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety.

4. International processing

Our infrastructure providers may process data in data centres outside India. We use reputable providers with appropriate security practices. By using Giftus you understand that such processing may occur to deliver the service.

5. Retention

  • Account and event data: while the account is active and as needed to provide the service.
  • Contribution and RSVP records: retained with the event for host history and dispute context; may be deleted or anonymised after account deletion or reasonable inactivity, subject to legal holds.
  • Platform fee / transaction metadata: retained as needed for accounting, chargebacks, and tax (typically several years).
  • Security logs: retained for a limited period for abuse investigation.
  • On verified account deletion request, we delete or anonymise personal data within 30 days, except where law requires longer retention.

6. Your rights (DPDPA)

Subject to law, you may request to:

  • Access personal data we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate personal data;
  • Erase personal data (where retention is not legally required);
  • Withdraw consent for optional processing;
  • Nominate another person as required under applicable rules.

Email support@giftus.io with subject “Privacy request.” We may need to verify your identity before acting.

7. Security

We use HTTPS/TLS in transit, Firebase security rules, server-side privileged operations for sensitive writes, and least-privilege design where practical. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use a strong unique password.

8. Children

Giftus is not directed at children under 18 as Creators. We do not knowingly create host accounts for minors. If you believe a minor has provided data improperly, contact us to remove it.

9. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change. Continued use after updates constitutes acknowledgment of the revised Policy.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

This policy covers (A) peer-to-peer UPI contributions between guests and hosts, and (B) platform fees paid to Giftus for digital services. By using Giftus you accept this policy.

A. Guest → host UPI contributions

Giftus cannot reverse, hold, freeze, or re-route UPI transfers that went to a host’s bank or UPI ID. Those payments are outside our systems.

  • Ask the host first. Refunds of gift money are between guest and host (or via your bank’s UPI dispute process where available).
  • If the host cancels the event, the host should arrange fair refunds of money they received, using their own UPI/bank tools. Giftus does not hold gift funds to auto-refund.
  • If you reported a payment in error, the host can mark it “not received,” which removes it from gift totals on Giftus—but that does not reverse a bank transfer.
  • For help identifying an event or host contact after a clear Platform issue, email support@giftus.io with subject “Dispute — [Event name]”, your name, amount, date, UTR/reference, and a payment screenshot. We may facilitate communication; we cannot force a UPI refund.

B. Platform fees paid to Giftus (e.g. ₹100 publish)

When you pay Giftus for a digital service—such as the one-time event publish fee—that charge is for software access. Unless a specific offer states otherwise:

  • Before unlock is used: if you paid but publish failed to activate due to a technical fault on our side, contact us within 7 days with your payment ID for a fix or refund of that platform fee.
  • After publish / use: once the event is marked paid/public (or the digital feature is delivered), the publish fee is generally non-refundable, except where required by law or where we determine a material defect in the service.
  • Duplicate charges or clear billing errors will be refunded after verification.
  • Test-mode payments (Razorpay test keys) are not real charges and are not refundable as money.
  • Gateway fees charged by payment processors may be non-recoverable on partial refunds depending on processor rules.

Refund requests for platform fees: email support@giftus.io with subject “Platform fee refund,” payment ID/receipt, event ID, and reason. We aim to respond within a reasonable period (typically within 7 business days).

C. Cancellation of events

Hosts may unpublish or stop sharing an event at any time. Unpublishing does not automatically refund guest UPI payments or platform fees already used to unlock features, except as in section B.
